Internship Program With FOA
People seeking
to learn more about migrant worker issues, civil and democracy movements,
globalization and alternative education in Korea and other Asian countries
can apply for the internship program at the Friends of Asia. Our internship
program intends to provide students and graduates opportunity to experience
Asian societies in transition through means of fieldwork, research and
exposure programs in cooperation with universities, NGOs and religious
groups both in Korea and overseas. The internship period can be from two months
to one year, with a possibility of extension for more than one year.

For 2003-4
Moon
Mansik
- Currently working for the Peace and Culture Festival
at Pyung Taek, 2004. Before coming to FOA, Mansik has
been widely involved in civil movements especially regarding
issues of human rights and peace.
Park
Jeong Joon
- Medical student at Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea.
For more than 1 year, Jeong Joon has been working as
a volunteer for medical service for migrant workers
in Ilsan-Goyang area.
Jay Mark Padlan - Regional Coordinator for Korea of the Asia
Pacific Mission for Migrants (APMM) based in Hong Kong. Mark especially
focuses on human rights issues of the Fillipino migrants in Korea
while intensively working with KASAMMAKO, the alliance of Filipino
migrant communities in Korea.
Jun
Euyryung -
Just finished her Master's program in South Asian Studies
at Cornell University. Euyryung
is currently interested in transnational labor and civil movements,
trafficking in women and international marriage involving Korea and countries in South and Southeast Asia.
Kim
Joon Hwi - Graduate student at Kookmin University.
At FOA, Joon Hwi worked especially for the counselling
service for migrant workers. He is now preparing for
the national standard exam to be a teacher.
Interns

Edward Chun -
Graduated from the University of Southern California
with a B.A. in Political Science. Edward is currently a third year law student
at the Moritz College of Law, Ohio State University, USA.
Chiaki Nishijima - Student of International Relations at Wellesley College, Massachusetts,
USA. Chiaki will be at the
Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich during the year of 2002-2003.
